Curran England recall scuppered by injury
Tom Curran’s hopes of an England white-ball recall have suffered a blow after he sustained a back stress fracture. The 28-year-old Surrey paceman has returned early from the Pakistan Super League, where he was playing for Islamabad United, and will undergo rehabilitation at the Oval. Curran, who last played for England in 2021, will join teammate Jamie Overton on the sidelines after he also sustained a stress fracture of the lumbar spine in January. Stress fractures have been a significant problem for England in recent years, with Jofra Archer, Olly Stone and Saqib Mahmood all spending time on the sidelines with the injury.
