One more thing…

A classic Antiques Roadshow moment last week, when a charming man brought in an old landscape he believed to have been painted by David Hockney. His grandfather had originally bought the painting in 1957 in Suffolk, when Hockney popped in for a cup of tea. It didn’t look very Hockney-ish to be fair, muddy browns, cheap

green, but the expert called it a ‘sparkling revelation’ into Hockney’s early life and valued it at £30,000. To the speechless man, an audience member shouted, ‘Just say thank you!’

I’ve been reading the most glorious art book – Kathy Acker: Get Rid of Meaning – designed around the feminist writer Acker’s notebooks in a way which allows you to feel part of a conversation with her.

It’s the sixth anniversary of the time Professor Robert Kelly’s kids gatecrashed his livetv interview about South Korean politics. Champagne all round! A good day.
