A toast to the everyday beauty of glassware

For several years now, artist Eunkyoung Son, who lives in Seoul, has explored her fascination with glass in a series of striking illustrations. The fine art graduate experimented with a variety of materials and colours before turning to oil pencils and acrylic paint for her depictions of all kinds of glassware, from champagne flutes to tumblers. Her work focuses on finding beauty in the everyday. “Glass has a different colour or shape depending on the angle,” she says. “I love that it distorts the things behind it, not reflecting them in its form directly. It feels so fun to express it twodimensionally on paper.” Jessica White
