The Gold: The Inside Story 9pm, BBC One

Following the hit drama about the Brink’s-Mat robbery of 1983, here’s the real story – told by the detectives who investigated Britain’s biggest bullion heist and led the cat-and-mouse hunt for three tonnes of gold. DCI Brian Boyce and DC Tony Yeoman remember how DC John Fordham was killed as they staked out culprit Kenneth Noye, while archive and witness testimonies paint a full picture of the criminal world at that time. Jamie’s £1 Wonders 8pm, Channel 4

A frozen veg risotto, a tinned-fish pasta dish and a low-cost chocolate fridge cake are on the menu in this week’s instalment of the chef’s attempt to create super-cheap meals. The cooking segments are as daft and cheeky as ever, but given the economic climate, the concept feels like sweet relief.

Scarlett’s Driving School 8.30pm, BBC One

“I’m freaking out!” Single mumof-two Amy has spent 13 years learning to drive but still has panic attacks on the road, despite her own mum Heather providing support. Scarlett Moffatt’s fiveday course to try to help Amy pass her test features therapeutic seaside chats and calming advice from remote instructor Francis. Graeme Virtue

Unforgotten 9pm, ITV1

Strides are made this week towards solving the case but, as so often with this elegant crime drama, the personal subplots are where the stars earn their fees. Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar excel as their characters’ private lives disintegrate. In adversity, strong detective duos can be forged. JS

24 Hours in Police Custody: The Honeytrap Murder 9pm, Channel 4

This week’s two-part special sees officers called into action after a naked man is found stabbed to death in Luton. Except this is not an isolated incident. With investigations into a string of murders already under way, detectives uncover a sexual trap culminating in robbery, with CCTV proving vital. DDW

Brickies

9pm, BBC Three

A new series of this cheerful documentary strand offering an insight into the robust but seemingly inclusive world of building. This time, the gang are constructing affordable housing in Mansfield – but, as ever, the interpersonal dynamics are the selling point as new faces join the tight-knit group.
