Steve Lamacq Thu, 4pm, 6 Music Who Killed Aldrich Kemp? Fri, 2.15pm, Radio 4

Tonight’s show from station perennial Lamacq marks the beginning of this year’s 6 Music festival. Lammo will be live from Manchester’s Band on the Wall, building up to performances from the Lathums, Antony Szmierek and Affleck’s Palace, a so-called “Nu-Madchester” combo who claim to channel the spirit of the chaotic 1990 Stone Roses Spike Island gig. This sequel to last year’s self-aware five-part spy romp Who is Aldrich Kemp? sees insouciant operative Clara Page (Phoebe Fox) back on duty, cramming a post-coital egg and cheese sandwich in her mush while shadowing a Venezuelan hitman. Secret agent stalwarts Bond and Bourne are namechecked in this first episode but it feels more akin to classic Steedand-Peel Avengers: a gleeful game of shadows populated by eccentric characters armed with either sniper rifles or stiletto-sharp repartee.
