Inside Out

It says something that in the same year that I reviewed Cartoon Saloon’s and Studio Ghibli’s

my favourite film was animation – Pixar’s dazzlingly insightful Inside Out. The film is a joy, as profound as it is playful, delving deep into the bittersweet mysteries of childhood and adolescence. Céline Sciamma’s provided a thrillingly defiant tale of girls in the Parisian hood; and movies as diverse as Carol Morley’s The Falling and Terence Davies’s Sunset Song provided yet more reasons to celebrate British film.
