Three strikes bring rail services to a halt
Rail services in parts of England ground to a halt last week during three 24-hour strikes in the longrunning dispute between unions and operating companies. On Wednesday and yesterday, 12,000 workers from the train drivers’ union Aslef walked out, cutting services to 40%, while on Friday 20,000 RMT members stopped work, halting half the trains on affected routes.
